Dear e-lawyer, Sorry that I'm writing in English but I can express myself better this way. My son is in the 5th grade. His schoolteacher has made racist comments and teaches the kids how to be prejudice. He expresses his personal opinion in the classroom about everytthing, from women to politics. Also, he refuses to teach out of the new books that the Ministry of Education has printed and just has the children write notes that he wants in their notebooks. This especially happens in the subject of mathematics where he insists on teaching them the pythagorean thereom. He also made us(the parents) all buy an αναγνωστικό that was published in 1966 and was used in primary schools during the 60's and 70's. He makes the children read from this book and wants to teach them the polytoniko system. I know this all sounds crazy but it's so very true. This is all happening in a small village of Evia close to Halkida. Some parents went to the σχολικό σύμβουλο της πρωτοβάθμειας and they called him about it but never visited the school. As a result, he started teaching out of the regular books again just before the holidays. But now, he is back to his old tricks and using the old methods. I had to take my child out of school and now I have to drive quite a distance to take him to another school, away from this strange man that manipulates and poisons young minds. What are my rights? What can I do? I'm a Greek-American, divorced woman of two children and I want some justice for my poor son that had to leave school because of this incompetent teacher. Please help me by at least giving me some advice.
Oh, here is a sample of a paragraph he gave the children to test them for spelling:
Το να ωραιοποιούμε τα πάντα στη ζωή δεν είναι και το πλέον ρεαλιστικό... Οι τσιγγάνοι έχουν μια κάποια γοητεία ως φυλή, είναι όμως παράξενοι, λίγο απρόσιτοι και όχι φιλικοί με την καθαριότητα...Όπως όλοι, έχουν τα θετικά και τα αρνητικά τους..
